Logo Update & 5K Medal

For UMBC’s 2024 Homecoming, the week was closer to Halloween than ever before. As a result, Homecoming branding was officially given permission to be spookier!
We didn’t get to see this sign until late! UMBC’s 2024 Homecoming logo welcoming students and alumni onto the campus from 195.

Process
I began with coming up with new logos from scratch and then also provided some themed updates to the universal logo updated every year. The final chosen logo was a bat-filled shield design update to the yearly standard Homecoming logo. I used the horizontal version’s real estate to celebrate the iconic bat silhouette.
The next step was to design a creepy companion for the 5k Dawg Chase. The lanyard and medal design were highly encouraged to follow the Halloween theme. One of my proposed original logos featured a spiderweb. The circular web imagery seemed almost perfect for a medal, and I had spiders crawling up and down the lanyard.
